Learning objectives

A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

• Apply a range of statistical tools using the STATA software package
• Understand the basic methods of data analysis, including preparation of data, calculating new variables and adapting the data for statistical analysis
• Evaluate and apply the appropriate statistical analysis for a given data set and research question
• Understand the implications of applying regression models to small datasets (<50)
• Evaluate and apply the appropriate method for smaller datasets
• Understand and construct descriptive statistics to comply with standard journal requirements
• Understand and evaluate the outcome of a statistical analysis to comply with standard journal requirements
• Identify and solve potential endogeneity issues in data
