Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and digitalization currently play a central role in how the IEM field, the industry and the society at large are changing. The ongoing pandemic has also highlighted the practical need for industry to make their operations more resilient. This course aims to deliver a current view on these topics, particularly from the viewpoints of managing production, safety and ergonomics through I4.0 key technologies. In their coursework the students analyze these topics in the context of their own research.

Associate professor Marko Djapan (Faculty of Engineering, University of Kragujevac, Serbia): Workplace ergonomics in I4.0 regarding physical and cognitive ergonomics.
Associate professor Micaela Demichela (DISAT Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Italy) I4.0 and safety management: risk assessment, management of change, operators’ safety. Advanced training options and emerging risks related to the adoption of new technologies will also be discussed.
Assistant professor Aleksandar Djordjevic (Faculty of Engineering, University of Kragujevac, Serbia): the effects of I4.0 core technologies (e.g. cloud computing, IoT) on the resilience and operations of manufacturing systems.
Adjunct professors Arto Reiman and Osmo Kauppila & doctoral researcher Suvi Leinonen (Industrial Engineering and Management, Faculty of Technology, University of Oulu): supply chain resilience and related dynamic capabilities, synthesis of the entire course topic
